It is law within the UK that every item of precious metal sold such as Platinum, Gold, Silver is stamped labelling the item with the type of metal it is. Platinum pieces which weigh less than 0.5 grams, 18ct Gold and Palladium pieces weighing less than 1.0 gram and Silver pieces weighing less than 7.78 grams are except from hallmark.
At Diamonds Factory all our products are hallmarked as per UK hallmarking law from London Assay Office (The GoldSmith Company)
The Goldsmiths' Company Assay Office is the oldest assay office in the United Kingdom. It has provided hallmarking services since The Goldsmiths' Company was founded in the 1300s. The company received its royal charter in 1327 and ranks 5th in order of precedence of the 12 Great Livery Companies of the City of London.
Hallmarking dates back to the 1300s when Edward I of England passed a law requiring any item made of silver, which was offered for sale, to be at least of equal quality as that of the coin of the realm (silver currency). The wardens of The Goldsmiths' Company were tasked with visiting workshops in the City of London to assay (test) silver articles. If these articles were found to be below standard they were originally destroyed and the metal forfeited to the King. If they passed, each article received the King's mark of authentication - the mark of a leopard's head. By 1478, there were several hundred workshops and merchants manufacturing silver articles in the City of London. It was not possible for the wardens to visit them all so the merchants were ordered to bring their items to Goldsmiths' Hall for testing and marking and a permanent Assay Office was established in the building. This is the origin of the term hallmark - struck with the King's mark at Goldsmiths' Hall.
In 1544 the Goldsmith's Company adopted the King's mark as their town mark and the mark of the leopard's head is now internationally recognised as the mark of this assay office.
The Goldsmiths's Company Assay Office is still based at Goldsmiths's Hall and remains the oldest company in Britain to be continually trading from the same site. However, it also has two satellite offices; at Greville Street in Hatton Garden in the heart of the London jewellery quarter and within a high security complex near London's Heathrow airport. It now has a new off-site facility within the Dalston-based jewellery manufacturer, Allied Gold. This is the first time in the Assay Office's 700 year history that it has opened permanent hallmarking services on a customer's premises.
In addition to hallmarking, the office has now expanded its range of services to support the jewellery trade and enforcement authorities. It offers a variety of specialist analytical services including nickel, lead & cadmium testing, antique silver dating, non-destructive compositional analysis, plating thickness measurement and a melt and assay service for scrap precious metal carried out in their fully independent on-site laboratory. Other services offered are a jewellery valuation service, laser marking, trading standards assistance, high quality photography and a comprehensive range of training and educational seminars, lectures and specialist events.
The festive season is often the prime time for holiday shopping. It sparks questions about what and when to buy, and jewellery is no exception. Sales events for diamond jewellery now begin early. For you, the decision is not simply about whether discounts are available but about which moment offers the right mix of price, stock, and timing. Engagement rings, earrings, bracelets, and pendants all feature heavily in these holiday sales, yet the best time to buy each piece can differ.
This guide walks through the calendar of promotions and explains how you can approach them with clarity, so your purchase balances value and confidence.
Finding The Best Deals On Diamond Jewellery During The Holiday Season
Holiday jewellery sales begin weeks before November ends. Early Black Friday campaigns run in late October and continue into mid-November, offering sitewide reductions that appeal to planners. From there, Black Friday and Cyber Monday bring some of the biggest online and in-store events, followed by December promotions centred on Christmas gifting.
Diamond jewellery deals are especially prominent at this time because retailers move larger volumes during holiday shopping than during the rest of the year. The increased sales make it possible to reduce prices across luxury items like engagement rings, bracelets, and earrings. For you, this means a wider window of opportunity to secure value and quality.
Why Early Black Friday Is A Good Time To Buy Engagement Rings Or Diamond Jewellery
Early Black Friday is now one of the best times to shop because it comes before the busiest weeks of the season. Stock levels are higher, delivery windows are shorter, and the stress of competing with peak demand is avoided.
For those considering proposals in November or early December, Early Black Friday engagement ring deals are particularly useful. You will find discounts across popular engagement designs like solitaires and halo rings, and reductions on ready-to-ship designs. Early Black Friday diamond sales also feature earrings and pendants, making it easier to secure a gift while ensuring it arrives well before Christmas.
A Look at What Types of Diamond Jewellery Are Discounted Early
Engagement rings remain the highlight of Early Black Friday promotions. Diamond earrings, especially studs, are prominent because they are practical everyday pieces and popular gifts. Pendants in solitaire, cluster, or symbolic shapes often receive the same level of discount, which makes them appealing for those looking for versatile holiday jewellery.
Comparing: Are Black Friday Sales Better Than Cyber Monday for Diamond Rings?
Black Friday and Cyber Monday each offer clear benefits, but they work differently. Black Friday diamond ring deals are strongest for shoppers who value choice, since stock is widest and popular sizes are readily available.
Cyber Monday jewellery discounts, on the other hand, appeal to those who prefer sharper online reductions and are comfortable with faster-moving digital offers. In practice, Black Friday suits those who want certainty and variety, while Cyber Monday works well if you prioritise savings and are ready to move quickly.
Understanding Which Day Has Better Prices On Engagement Rings
Price trends for engagement rings differ depending on where and how you shop. In-store purchases sometimes include extras such as complimentary resizing or cleaning, while online sales often highlight straightforward percentage reductions and quicker shipping.
Diamonds Factory offers consistent value across both, with certified stones, lifetime guarantees, free shipping, and 30-day returns included. That means you don’t have to choose between quality and savings.
The style of the ring also influences pricing. Halo rings are more frequently discounted because of their higher total diamond weight, giving retailers more scope to adjust prices. Solitaire rings are usually steadier, but they still benefit from the sitewide reductions available during both Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
Are Diamond Bracelets and Earrings Cheaper on Black Friday or Cyber Monday for Shoppers in Ireland?
Bracelets and earrings show variation across the two sales events. Black Friday is often stronger for classic items such as diamond tennis bracelets or stud earrings, as the stock is wider and availability is more reliable.
Cyber Monday favours short-lived online discounts and seasonal collections, including limited-edition bangles or cluster earrings. The decision comes down to preference: Black Friday offers security in choice, while Cyber Monday rewards those who prefer digital flash promotions and quicker online deals.
Which Diamond Jewellery Works Best as a Christmas Gift?
By December, the focus of holiday sales shifts to gifting. While the discounts are consistent, the added value lies in seasonal presentation. Christmas diamond gift ideas often include gift sets, personalised packaging, and engraving options that distinguish them from earlier promotions.
Diamond earrings remain one of the most popular gifts because they adapt to both daily wear and festive events. Diamond bracelets are often chosen for partners or close relatives as celebratory gifts. Diamond pendants for Christmas are also a strong choice because they are symbolic and versatile.
Diamond Earrings, Bracelets, And Pendants: Top Gift Picks For Her
1. Earrings
Round brilliant studs are the classic option, princess cut studs offer a modern edge, halo studs provide extra sparkle, and drop earrings suit those who enjoy movement.
2. Bracelets
Tennis bracelets remain highly sought after, slim versions suit everyday wear, wider rows work for formal events, diamond bangles offer structure, and mixed-metal designs create a personalised touch.
3. Pendants
Solitaire pendants in round or princess cuts are consistently chosen, cluster pendants create greater impact, heart shapes carry symbolic meaning, and pear-shaped pendants pair well with winter clothing.
Is Waiting Until Christmas Week Worth It For Last-Minute Deals?
Leaving diamond jewellery shopping until Christmas week carries risk. Stock shortages are common, particularly on popular ring sizes and weights, and courier delays often occur. While clearance items may appear in mid-December, they are not guaranteed to arrive on time. Shopping earlier in the month offers far more certainty.
Holiday Jewellery Deals: Shop In-Store Or Online?
The choice between online vs in-store diamond jewellery shopping depends on priorities. Online platforms provide scale, giving access to hundreds of designs in one sitting with the ability to compare specifications and certifications. Delivery to your door adds convenience.
In-store shopping offers reassurance by letting you see diamonds in real lighting and try on different settings. For engagement rings especially, the chance to compare carat sizes or styles in person is valuable. Many shoppers combine both approaches, researching online first, then visiting a store to confirm their choice.
Ensuring You’re Getting The Best Deal On Diamond Jewellery
The most effective way to save is by confirming quality alongside price. One of the best approaches for anyone wondering how to save on diamond rings is to check certifications. Reports from GIA or IGI confirm authenticity and grading. Comparing cut, carat, and clarity across different listings also helps identify whether a discount is genuine or inflated.
Things to Keep In Mind When Buying Diamond Jewellery During The Holidays
• Verify certifications such as GIA or IGI, as this is the foundation of verifying diamond quality.
• Compare cuts and carats across different listings to gauge true value.
• Look for added services such as resizing, warranties, or returns that extend long-term reassurance.
By combining these checks with seasonal sales, shoppers in Ireland can balance value with peace of mind.
When Is The Best Time To Buy Diamond Jewellery?
The best time varies by piece. The best time to buy engagement rings is often during Early Black Friday, when stock is strongest and delivery is faster. Earrings and bracelets see their most competitive offers during Black Friday and Cyber Monday, with bundles and digital specials adding value. Pendants and gift sets are best left for December, when seasonal packaging and personalisation options are available.
Jewellers such as Diamonds Factory maintain consistent standards across these promotions, offering certified stones, aftercare, and designs suited to both daily wear and festive gifting. With careful timing, you can secure diamond jewellery that balances quality, availability, and savings.
